LOCAL FOUNDATION HELPS BRING LITERACY
THROUGH MUSIC TO SCHOOLS


Where: Santa Susana Cantina, 6672 Santa Susana Pass Road, Simi Valley, CA
When: Saturday, July 9th 2005
Time: 2 p.m. – 10 p.m.

The Get Together Foundation in association with Betty Jo Productions announce the “Rock the Cantina Benefit Concert” to be held at the Santa Susana Cantina in Simi Valley. On this date rock & roll bands with a concern for kids from across Southern California will donate their time and musical talents for all to enjoy. As with all Get Together Foundation events, 100% of the door and raffle proceeds will be donated.


For this event, Los Angeles-based non profit organization, Rock the Classroom, is the beneficiary. Rock the Classroom, brings diverse professional musicians into public elementary schools to offer a hands on, standards based music program designed to support the core literacy curriculum currently in use. By integrating music into existing curriculum, Rock the Classroom provides an inspiring creative experience missing from many classrooms, while helping teachers reinforce key academic skills such as reading and writing.

The ‘Rock the Cantina’ Benefit Concert will feature live music from “Silverlake”, “The CEO’s”, “The Shills” and other local talent. There will be food and drink available for everyone to enjoy. Raffles and other prizes add to the event.
