Tribute to Mike Meros

Mike was a fabulous, fantastic, faithful friend. During my early years of following the Beach Boys around, Mike befriended me and we got into lots of scrapes and funny situations together. Some of my fondest memories are from when they played Pine Knob here in MI and Mike, Jeff Peters, Mary and I would go to Greektown. It became an annual thing any time they were in town and I can still hear Meros trying to convince Mary to say "OPA Mary!"

Later on as we both got our own families we stayed in touch and it was Mike who called me when Carl Wilson was sick and then passed. He knew this was going to be a hard thing to tell me but he was the one that took the responsibility and I was so appreciative to him for that.

Afterwards when Bobby and I became a couple, Mike was one of the very few of our mutual friends who supported us wholly.

I'll miss the drives to all the old Drive In Theaters we went to so he could photograph them; the times I would make him drive my car cause he would get frustrated that I didn't know where I was going; and all the times we would drive to the shows together and get there with only 10 mins to showtime. The late night phone calls to gossip about the goings on in the world of Beach Boys, and the nights laughing in an elevator when we'd run into a celebrity that was well past their prime! (cough, Mike Reno) I hope he knew how much I valued him in life and how much I'll miss him in death. So many memories involved him in them. I'm glad we got to chat recently. The world will miss his great talent, and I will miss a great friend.

Mike Meros I will MISS YOU!!

Michael you were a DEAR friend! I met you the first day you joined the Beach Boys (I am sorry I gave you such a hard time). I don't know what those summers would have been like without you, Ed and Bobby. Our last talk together will forever be with me. We managed to have a long long friendship and I will miss you!!
